The manufacturing process for steel pallets involves welding steel deck panels to steel support legs. The deck panels come in two types: corrugated flat sheets and inward-rolled channel profiles; the corrugated sheets are produced from cold-rolled steel using an automated rolling mill, while the inward-rolled channels are formed from steel strip into C-shaped profiles. The support legs are typically fabricated from 100×50mm rectangular tubing or by butt-welding two C-shaped profiles together; the C-shaped profiles can be punched with holes to enable four-way forklift entry, or alternatively, small square tubes and short pipe sections can serve as supports. Following welding, the pallets undergo manual grinding and surface treatment-such as pickling and phosphating or mechanical polishing-before being powder-coated and finally packaged as finished products.
Among the various types of pallets currently in use in China, wooden flat pallets account for the largest share-representing over half of the total-followed by plastic flat pallets, with steel, composite material, and paper pallets making up the remainder.
